Obituary for Gloria Jean Moss

Ms. Gloria Jean Moss, 59, of 324 Talley Street, passed away at Brian Center of Statesville on Sunday morning, April 9, 2017, following an extended illness. She was born on August 25, 1956 in Guilford county and was the daughter of the late Author Jr. Moss and Willie Mae Shuford Cowan. A brother, Donald William Moss, also preceded her hin death.
She made her home in Catawba and attended the Newton Conover School System. Later making her home in Iredell County she united with Bibleway Church #6 where she was a choir member and an usher.
She leaves to remember her life, two daughters, Lakisha Monick Moss of Athens, Georgia and Latarsha Moss of Troutman; seven brothers, Ronald Lewis (Vivian) Moss of Salisbury, Brady Nathaniel (Sandra) White of Mooresville, Arthur Raymond (Vesetta) Moss of Maiden, Michael Edward Moss of Charlotte, Robert Lewis Cowan, Willie James Shuford and Raymond Eugene (Minnie) Leach, all of Statesivlle; four sisters, Audrey Leverne Hewitt of Greensboro, Dorothy Shuford (Stephen) Imes and Rosa (Michael) Glover, both of Statesville and Mary (Ricky) Alston of High Point; seven grandchildren, Kyesha Moss, Monika Turner, Aleah (Carson) Moss Strawter, Keyanna Moss, Daja Everhardt, Denorris Faulkner, Jr. and Marco Brown, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Z'hiane Turner and Zaybian Stackhorne; a host of aunts and uncles including, Rev. John Lee Cowan, Jr. and George Moss, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Bibleway Church #6. Pastor Rufus Connor will officiate and burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Ms. Moss will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 1:30 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
