Obituary for Isac "Shug" Thompson Jr.

Mr. Isac Thompson, Jr., 73, of 1336 Mulberry Avenue, Charlotte, N. C., passed away at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte following an extended illness. Shug, as he was affectionately called, was born in Iredell County on September 18, 1943, and was the son of the late Isaac and Willie Harris Thompson.
He was a graduate of Morningside High School and was a truck driver for many years.
He leaves to remember and celebrate the memory of his life, two sisters, Elvira Thompson Smith of Charlotte and Mary Thompson Pickens of Statesville; a host of nieces and nephews including, Lewis(Pauline) Smith, Jr., James Collins, Jr., Lewis Calvin Smith, II, all of Charlotte, Harriet Pickens of Statesville; Hazel (Julius) Brown and Angela (Eddie) Lovey, both of South Carolina, Alexis Henry of Statesville, Eric Pickens, Jamel Pickens and Andre Lovely, all of Louisiana, and Jewel Henry of U. S. Military; and a host of cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Friday, April 14, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at The Mary B. Bigham Memorial Chapel of Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Evangelist Angela L. Lovely will officiate and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Mr. Thompson will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home where members of the family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m.
