Obituary for Linda Leigh Everhart (Ijames)
Evangelist Linda Leigh Ijames Everhart, 57, of 343 Kelly Avenue, Mooresville, passed away at her home on Friday, May 12, 2017, following an extended illness. She was born in Iredell County on October 31, 1959, and was the daughter of Linda Jolly Brown and the Willie James “Paul” Williams. She was raised by her deceased mother, Gracie Mae Turner Privette. She was preceded in death by a daughter, LaToya Denise Everhart; two brothers, Willie Williams, Jr. and Roderick “Roddy” Davis; and a sister, Lanesia Ikard.
She was a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, NY and received her CNA Certification, and at one time worked with Brian Center of Salisbury. She worked at Sassy Looks and was a certified cosmetologist. She also received her Associates Degree from Central Carolina Institute of Theology. She was a member of Miracle Tabernacle of Deliverance where she served in various capacities including Courts of Esther, a Minister, Women’s Ministry, Evangelist and Youth Outreach.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life in addition to her mother, two daughters, Asia Everhart (Marcus) Smith of Cleveland and Raykesha (Alfonzo Miller) Everhart of the home; ten grandchildren, Patrick Smith, Shaquille Smith, Dayekwon Smith, Corshaunte Brandon, Markaylan Smith, Antanaya Holland, Toyuan Miller, Martrez Smith, Shanasia Hallman, and Narayasha Miller; one great grandchild, Malachi Casey; three brothers, Cleon Ijames of Atlanta, Georgia; Stanley (Alise) Williams of Brooklyn, New York and Michael (Tomika) Privette of Statesville; ten sisters, Cherie (Chris) Gillion and Avis (Sonny) Schofield, both of Statesville, Tenna Williams of Charlotte, Ruta (Pastor Glen) Usry of Salisbury, Greta (John) Angle of Cleveland, Jennifer (Cameron) Privette of Woodleaf, Michelle (Joseph) Pounall of Salisbury, Lisa (Jeffery) Lovell of Mooresville, Tomisha Tucker of Statesville, Cynthia Turner of Charlotte and Lisa (Ricky) Tate of Statesville; her stepmothers, Carol Williams and Lillian Ijames, both of Statesville; her special friend, Pastor Lonnie Harper; extended family, Jamel (Jackie) Morrison, Lakisha Morrison and Lonnie Harper, Jr.; her aunt, Adrian Holland of Brooklyn, New York; her grandmother, Carrie Ramsey of Statesville; grandfather to grandchildren, Travis Ross; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Christian Outreach of the Piedmont. Pastor Glen Usry will officiate and Bishop Derrick Kelly will eulogize. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Evangelist Everhart will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 12:30 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
