St. Matthew 5:4
Blessed are they that mourn: they shall be comforted
Alberta Nichols, affectionately known as “Bert”, was born August 24, 1932 in Iredell County, transitioned to be with her Heavenly Father May 15, 2017. Bert grew up in Harmony, N.C., but for the past 20 years resided is Statesville, NC at Brookdale assisted living with a recent move to Autumn Care.
Predeceased by her guardian parents Robie Nichols, Sr. and Grace Campbell Nichols, Betty Foster, mother and Lee Andrew Nichols, brother. Surviving is her guardian for the past 20 years , Crystal Nichols of Harmony, N.C. and a host of other family and friends.
Bert was the epitome of love and family.
From Luke, Frank, Loke, June, Kevin, Greg, Chris, to Dede; Bert has impacted and had influence on their lives, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Yes, she has changed almost everyone’s diaper and wiped their runny nose. Well,“Pinto Beans and Sweet Tea”! Arnold Palmer had nothing on Bert, when it came to sweet tea. Sunday afternoon at Mama Grace’s, “Bert’s sweet tea” was always an item, and don’t forget the pinto beans.
Bert ran the good race and fought the good fight. Monday morning, she received a call, sort of an offer you can’t refuse, with Mama Grace in the back ground yelling “come on Bert”. This proposition comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she dearly missed and had not seen in a long time. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be laughing, eating, dancing, singing and serving “sweet tea”. Love, laughter and fun a guarantee! No more pain, no more suffering and no more sorrow. A one-way ticket and she chose it. Full of love and loved by all…a simplistic life with profound significance. A servants heart, a servants love, that was Bert!!!
