Two Scholarships Offered Through The Funeral Home Deadline is April 30th

It has said “it takes an entire village to raise a child… to lay a foundation for success – to open the door of opportunity and to help shape the future of a child…” Education is just one opportunity.
There are two scholarships available through Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary: one for High School Students who want to enter college and the other for college graduates who wish to continue their education.
The Scholarship are presented in June of each year, and awarded in January of the following year after the completion of the winner's first semester.
Rutledge and Bigham Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship is awarded to graduating high school student who is a child or grandchild of a person funeralized by Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. (An Undergraduate, Technical or Community College Scholarship)
The Charles Warner Brown Higher Education Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to a graduating college student who is a child or grandchild of a person funeralized by Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home and would like to continue their education. (A Graduate or Doctorial Scholarship)
The Scholarship Committee receives and reviews all applications and makes recommendations. The designated winner will be announced at the appropriate awards program at his/her school and also at the Annual Memorial Service held in June. All decisions of the Committee are final. The application process will require the following documents: a completed application form which must be legible or typed; recent official transcripts of grades (high school and/or college); a photograph and biographical sketch. These items will not be returned; two letters of recommendation (principal, counselor, minister, etc.) should also accompany this application.
