Erika Ina Shamall Dalton, 39, of 505 1st Avenue, Statesville, N. C. passed away , October 20, 2018, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, following a brief illness. She was born in Iredell County on August 18, 1979, and was the daughter of Kathy Dalton Walker and the late Seaborn Ricky Wilson. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Sharika Dalton and grandparents, Annie Wilson, Ina Rose Dalton and Otto Dalton; a aunt, Edna Polk Dalton; a uncle, Willie Lee Dalton.
She was a graduate of Statesville High School and at one time attended Mitchell Community College. Erika later attended Gardner Webb College where she majored in criminal justice and graduated in 1998. At the time of her death, she was employed by Lowes Distribution in Statesville, N.C.
In addition to her mother, Kathy Dalton Walker; survivors include her step-father who helped to raise her, Jorge Walker; her son, Amauri Gibbs of the home; her fiance, John Houston; two brothers, LaVaughn (Camaro) Wilson and Ricky Wilson Sharpe, both of Statesville; and a sister, Ebony Sharpe of Norfolk, Jacksonville, FL; aunts, Vanessa Wilson of Japan, Debbie Sharpe of Kernersville, Patricia Dalton and Karen Jones of Mooresville, Dorothy Rose (David) Bennett, Edith (Kevin) Patterson, Cindy (Tony) Hannan, Deborah Walker, Terri (Kelvin) King; Cora Moore and Tewanna (Darryl) Davidson all of Statesville, Natalie Andrews of High Point; uncles, Johnny Dalton and Landus (Patsy) Dalton, both of Troutman, Adornley (Valarie) Walker and Clarence (Monica) Walker, Keith Dalton, Vernell Walker and Brandon Walker, all of Statesville; a host of cousins, including a special cousin, Christine Dalton; other relatives, neighbors and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Friday, October 26, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Statesville. Reverend J.W. Brunson is Pastor, and Pastor Donald Brown will officiate and eulogize. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
Erika will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 12:30 p.m., thirty minutes prior to services. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., but will assemble at her residence, 505 1st. Avenue, at all other times.
