Obituary for Mary Elizabeth McKellar (Campbell)

A smile for all, a heart of gold. One of the finest this world could hold. Never selfish, always kind. These are the memories she leaves behind…
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Campbell McKellar, 68, was born in Iredell County on April 22, 1950, and was the daughter of the late John Campbell and Essie Ellis Campbell. She passed away at her home on Monday, November 26, 2018, unexpectedly.
She was a 1968 graduate of Unity High School and was a faithful member of Shiloh AME Zion Church where she served on the Kitchen Committee and a member of the Choir.
On November 18, 1966, she was married to Walter McKellar, Jr., who survives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, John McMiller, Arthur Lee Campbell, Raymond McMiller, Henry Campbell, James Richard Campbell and Elijah Campbell and two sisters, Annie Torrence and Alice Tucker.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life in addition to her husband, Walter of the home; one son, Walter Lee (Teresa) McKellar, III of Raleigh; two daughters, Sharon (Bernard) McKellar of the home and Treva (Shannon) McKellar of Statesville; six grandchildren, Tyshawn Byers, Keyshawn Horton, LaKeisha Knox, Zadea McKellar, Tiffaney Latham and Janiesha Ellis; one brother, Ronald (Wilma) Campbell of Statesville; four sisters, Margaret Jones of Bronx, New York, Rev. Evelyn (Overseer James) Hamilton of Statesville, Minister Janice L. (Overseer Roger) Powell of Statesville and Gloria D. (Frank Glenn) Linney of Stony Point; three brothers-in-law, Bishop Frank (Mae Helen) McKellar, Alfonzo McKellar, and Bill McKellar, all of Dillion, SC; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Bennett and Betty Sue McQueen, both of Dillion, S. C.; a special friend, Frances Houston; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, the Shiloh AME Zion Church family, neighbors and friends.

It seems so unreal that you are gone
When just the other day.
You walked and talked and laughed with us
Then suddenly slipped away.
Your peaceful smile, your joyful laugh
How sweet the memory still
Your parting left an aching void
Only God’s love can fill.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at Shiloh AME Zion Church. Reverend J.
