Mrs. Edith Grace Carter Dacons, 95, was born in Yakinville, NC on September 24, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Lonnie Joseph Carter and Florence Elizabeth Hauser Carter. She peacefully departed this life February 12, 2019. Mrs. Dacons was the wife of Edsel Vance Dacons for 65 years until his passing in 2013.

Mrs. Dacons leaves to cherish her memory four children, Eddyce Dacons Hobson (Arthur, III) of Matthews, NC, Vann F. Dacons (Bernice) of Kings Mountain, NC, Karen Dacons-Brock (Michael, Sr.) of Durham, NC, and Pierre W. Dacons (Gwendolyn) of Statesville, NC; seven grandchildren, Nicole Hobson Thompson (Empsy, Jr.) of Kannapolis, NC, Sahnia Hobson-Oates (Miguel) of Belmont, NC, Donovan P. Dacons of Philadelphiia, PA, Dion J. Dacons (Martha) of Philadelphia, PA, Alison M. Brock-McGill (Ray, Jr.) of Brooklyn, NY, Michael Brock, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, and Camille P. Brock of Miami, FL; four great-grandchildren, Mason B. Oates, Pierce C. Oates, Brynn M. Thompson, and Cameron G. Dacons; two sisters-in-law, Marie C. Isley and Lillian Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Sunday, February 17, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Ivan Cowan, Pastor, Reverend Dr. Valerie L. Noble will officiate, and Reverend Donald A. Brown will eulogize. Burial will follow on Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Iredell Memorial Park. Mrs. Dacons will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 12:30 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
