Mr. John Steven Lazenby, 64, of 648 Scotts Creek Road, Statesville, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Davis Regional Medical Center. He was born in Iredell County, on June 15, 1954, and was the son of the late Cleveland Marshall Lazenby and Janie Bell Dalton Lazenby. He was preceded in death by, one brother, Brian Keith Lazenby; eight uncles, Theodus, Calvin, Irvin, Charles, Arthur, Howard, Sanford Lazenby and Claude Leon Dalton; four aunts, Hazel Bailey, Minnie Keaton, Hattie Brown, and Bertha Jones; and a nephew, Bronson Samuel Foote.
He was a graduate of North Iredell High School. After high school he joined the United States Army and received an honorable discharged.
He leaves to cherish the memories of his life, three brothers, Cleveland (Betty) Marshall Lazenby of Middletown Delaware, Leonard Lazenby of Statesville and Calvin Lazenby of Illinois; three sisters, Sylvia Lawson of Mechanicsville, MD, Gloria Foote of Statesville and Betty Daniels of Detroit, MI; one uncle, Willie (Catherine) Lazenby of Alexandria, VA; a aunt, Virginia Lazenby of Statesville; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary, Reverend Donald Brown will officiate and burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. Members of the family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m., at the funeral home, but will assemble at the residence at all other times.
