Pamela Loree Wilkins Currence, 55, of 129 Tower Drive, Statesville, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 after an extended illness. She was born on July 6, 1963, in Iredell County, and was the daughter of late Willie Wilkins, Jr., and Frances Lee Wilkins, who survives. A sister, Joyce Kimberly Wilkins, maternal grandmother, Lorene Patterson Gaither Houston, paternal grandmother, Floree Wilkins, also preceded her in death. Pamela was married to Gregory Currence, Sr., who survives.
Pamela attended Iredell Statesville Schools System where she graduated from Statesville High School in 1981. She attended Mitchell Community College before attending the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. Throughout her career, she obtained numerous certificates and training supporting her career in childhood development. She worked as a director at Little Folks Daycare for 15 years. Pamela will truly be missed.
In addition to her husband, Gregory Currence, Sr.,and her mother, Frances Lee Wilkins, both of Statesville, she leaves to cherish the loving memories of her life, her son ,Gregory ( Shirelle) Currence, Jr;, a daughter, Charre Loree (Rodriquez) Currence both of Statesville; a special son, David Rucker, of Raleigh; three brothers, Kenneth (LaChay) Wilkins, Victor Wilkins, and Ronald (Eva) Wilkins all of Statesville; foster brothers, Scottie Tucker of Summerville, S.C., Anthony Stevenson of Charlotte, Keith Lawrence, Brian Stevenson, Sonny Schofield, and Vinson Smith, all of Statesville; six brother-in-law, Phillip Currence, Tyrone Currence, Red-Fernando (Pam) Currence and Ulysses (Jean) Currence Jr., all of Jacksonville, N.C.; Lovell (Jacqueline) Currence of Conyers, Ga.,and Darnell Currence of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Neva Currence of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters, Trivia Sharp, her caregiver, and Robin Griffin; aunts, Flora Griffin and Josephine Parks, both of Statesville ; a great aunt, Connie Patterson, of Troutman, N.C.; five grandchildren, Trayvon Lassiter, Cameron Smith, Jada McCain, Elijah Lacy and Julian Speller, all of Statesville; a host of special nieces, Roneisha Wilkins, Sierra Wilkins, Letisha Lewis, all of Statesville, N.C., Kizzy Petteway of Raleigh,N.C., Devonna Hollis of Huntsville, Al., Sereatha Currence of Jacksonville, N.C., and Henesha Davis of La, California, Donald Currence of Huntsville, Al., Tony Dye of Gastonia, N.C., Ben Currence, of Kings Mountain ,N.C., Travis Currence of Gaffney, S.C., and Darius Johnson of Fort Lee, Va.; cousins, Paulette, Phyllis, Ernestine Karen, Tracy, Lorna, Alisha, Cathy, Yvette, Johnny(Toby), Albert (Benny), Chris and Derrick; a best friend, Sharon Parks; a host of other cousins, friends and other relatives.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted on Saturday, April 20, 2019, 3:00 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, Statesville with Reverend Darreck Clemmons officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-3p.m., but will assemble at the residence of her mother, Frances Wilkins, 705 Brevard Street, Statesville, at all other times.
