Mrs. Emma Louise Mott Horne Smyre, 74, of 1915 East Greenbriar Road, Statesville, was born in Iredell County on September 28, 1944, and was the daughter of the late C. H Knox and Christine Mott Evans. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Tracy Horne; a son-in-law, Ronald Reid; a brother, Andre Knox and a sister, Deborah Knox.

She attended Morningside School and was a loving mother and grandmother.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, three sons ,Robert Stanley (Paula) Horne, Jerry Horne and David Horne, all of Statesville; four daughters, Shirley (Donald) Rucker of Statesville, Debra D. (John) Thomas of Portland, Maine, Willene Reid of the home and Sharon (William) Whitehead of Statesville; three brothers, Willie “Frog” (Debra) Burch, Norman Burch and Harold Burch, all of Statesville; one sister, Barbara Ann Horne of Statesville; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conduced Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Pastor John Mott will officiate and Pastor Ralph Wood will eulogize with burial to follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
Mrs. Smyre will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home where members of the family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
