Courtney Nicole Stokes Porter, 40, of 347 Brevard Street, Statesville, was born in Brooklyn, New York, departed this life on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at the Soccer Complex, Simonton Road, Statesville. She was the daughter of Julia Stokes. Courtney was married to Daniel Porter, who survives.

She was a member of Christian Outreach of The Piedmont. Courtney graduated from Statesville High School in 1999, and she also attended Winston Salem State University for 2 years. She worked at the Charter School, where she was a teacher. She loved cooking, coaching basketball, writing, producing music, and was a die heart fan of the New York Giants.
In addition to her husband, Daniel Porter, she leaves to cherish the memory the memory of her life, three sons, Kristopher Porter, Nicholas Porter and Alexander Porter; grandmother, Shirley Knight of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a mother in law, Alma Gaines of Birmingham; a brother-n- law, Emmanuel Porter of Afganistan; a grandmother-in-law, Marie Brown of Birmingham; two uncles; ten aunts; three sisters, Ashlee Stokes, Brittany Gaither, and Sydney Stokes, all of Statesville; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, church family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Christian Outreach of The Piedmont with Reverend Usry officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11:30 but will assemble at the residence of 327 Brevard Street, Statesville, at all other times.
