Mrs. Dorothy Corry Jennings was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Odie Corry was born in Statesville, N.C.

She was a graduate of Morningside High School and continued her education at Spelman College and a graduate of Winston Salem State Teacher’s College where she became a member of The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
Dorothy was a music teacher in the Troup County School System, Lagrange Georgia and the Mecklenburg School System, Charlotte, N.C. While in Charlotte, she worked The Charlotte Bureau of Training and Model Cities.
She relocated to Chapel Hill, N.C. and was a Curriculum Developer for the State of North Carolina. She received her Master’s Degree from North Carolina Central University.
Dorothy developed a love for the North when studying at Columbia University in her early years and relocated to Newark, N.J. and taught at Clifton Park.
She was offered a position as a Media Specialist in the Baltimore City School System where she retired.
Dorothy was an accomplished Classical Pianist and shared her talent with developing youth and was a Church pianist for many churches where she resided. She was a political and community activist and was instrumental in the Civil Rights Movement.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter Wanda Jennings of Lagrange, GA. Cousin Mary Warren, Kings Mtn. N.C. special friends Mary and Randolph Young of Durham, N.C. and Rosa Covington of Charlotte, N.C., Kings Mtn and Statesville relatives and Lagrange, GA. special friends.
Graveside service for Mrs, Dorothy Jennings 87, will be Sunday, May, 19, 2019, in the Belmont cemetery. Burial will be in the Belmont cemetery.
