Mr. Johnny William Lewis, Jr., 47, was born in Rowan County on June 14, 1971, and was the son of Johnny William Lewis, Sr. and the late Ada Mae Rankin. He departed this life on Friday, June 7, 2019, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
He was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School, Class of 1989, and attended Barber Scotia College in Concord, N. C. At the time of his death, he was employed by Amesbury Truth as a machine operator. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Johanna Lewis and his adopted parents who raised him, Onzilo Rankin, Sr. and Mildred Rankin.
In addition to his father, he leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his fiancé, Suzette Byers of the home; one son, Dana S. Lewis of Statesville; three daughters, Kayla Parker of Mooresville, Kenyal Braswell of Mocksville and Ditasha (Marcus) Mack of Statesville; one step-son, Tony Byers of Statesville; two step-daughters, Asya Parsons and Arie Parsons, both of Statesville; one brother, Robert (Sheila) Rankin of Gastonia; one sister, Veda Anderson of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Nasir Holloway, Kyle Holloway and Khalil Holloway, all of Mocksville; seven step-children, A. J. Ah’Zion Parsons, Ahzyriana, Ah’zyrion, Dezire, Alfred Allison, Amirya Allison, Kamden Allison; his best friends, Donnell Clark and Dannell Chambers; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
