Mr. Gilbert Bernard Rucker, 60, of Atlanta, Ga, formally of Statesville, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019, at his residence. He was born in Iredell County, on December 6, 1958, and was the son of the Lula Mae Rucker and the late Charlie Lewis Kimbrough. He was married to Sandra Holmes Rucker, who survives. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marsherry Shuford and Bertha White.

He was a graduated of Statesville High School. After high school he joined the United States Army and was honorable discharged.
He leaves to cherish the memories of his life, his wife Sandra, one step-daughter, Stephanie Holmes of Atlanta GA, five brothers, Curtis (Lisa) Kimbrough of Jefferson, NC, John Rucker of Atlanta, GA, Stanley (Janet) Rucker of Savannah, GA and Vincent Rucker, Gary (Alesha) Dobbins, both of Statesville, Alvin Dobbins of Orlando, Fl; four sisters, Terrie Rucker, Nita (Arnold) Feimster, Crystal Pressley, all of Statesville and Teresa Smith of Inglewood , CA; two uncles, Milton Rucker of Queens, NY and Leonard Rucker of Brooklyn, NY; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary and burial will follow in the National VA Cemetery, Salisbury, NC, at 2:00 pm. Members of the family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00 am, at the funeral home, but will assemble at 2109 Brook Drive at all other times.
