Mr. Walter Leon Lindsay, 62, was born in Iredell County on February 25, 1957, and was the son of the late Leonard Lindsay and Clorine Dover Lindsay. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at his home.
He attended Statesville High School and was a member of First Baptist Church. He served with the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his birth Mom, Bertha Louise Davidson Gill; his birth father – Rufus Glover; a son, Leon Tremain Bradshaw; brothers, Franklin Dulin and Keith Davidson; a sister, Wanda K. Davidson; and a step-brother-in-law, Alan (Vanessa) Campbell.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, five sons, Santwan (LaMonica) Dalton of New Port News, Virginia, Courtney Deshawn, Deleon Carshar Dalton and Jamel Conner, all of Statesville and Michael Conner of Georgia; five daughters, Shanita Dalton of Winston-Salem, Kira Ticole Dalton of Salisbury, Latoya Smyre and Dante Conner, both of Statesville and Angie Williams of Washington, DC; brothers, Rufus E. Dulin, Roy J. Davidson, Stephen C. Howell, Larnell J. Dalton, Conrad Glover, Tony (Natasha) Glover and Daren Glover, all of Statesville, Steven Glover, Timothy Glover, Reginald Glover, Christopher Glover, and Roger Glover, all of Winston-Salem; sisters, Sandra Roseboro and Elizabeth J. Davidson, both of Statesville, Melissa Glover of Winston-Salem, Cynthia Glover Gray, Christine Moore, Elder Stephanie (Joseph) Williams and Patricia (Gary) Gaither, all of Statesville; step-brother, Lewis Gill, Jr. of Statesville and Earnest Gill of Mooresville; step-sisters, Vanessa Campbell and Lacy Nunez, both of Mooresville; aunts, Mary Frances Harris and Betty Whren, both of Statesville; close cousin, Walter Dinky Jackson of California and Nathaniel Murdock of Statesville; a host of aunts and uncles from California; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Thursday, August 15, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at The Mary B. Bigham Memorial Chapel of Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Bishop Aljamal Stephens will officiate. Members of the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
