Ms. Erika Nicole Williams, 38, was born in Iredell County on June 16, 1981, and was the daughter of Craig Murdock and Sharon Yvonne Williams Murdock. She departed this life on Thursday, August 8, 2019, at her home following an extended illness.
She was a graduate of Statesville High School and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. While in High School, she served with the JROTC for four years. Prior to her disability, she was employed by Lake Norman Security as an Alarm Systems Monitor.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mary Murdock Lazenby, Ferg Monroe Murdock and her grandfather, John Lazenby.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, in addition to her parents, her father, Craig Murdock of Statesville; her mother, Sharon Yvonne Williams Murdock of Statesville; her daughter, Kaylah Williams of the home; her son, Gabriel Wilkes of the home; her goddaughter, Davion Mathis; two brothers, Maurice (Tonia) Williams of Mooresville and Craig M. (Rosalyn) Murdock of Newport News, Va.; one sister, Tamara Nika Summers of Statesville; aunts, Barbara Knox, Gay Nell Murdock, Gilda Murdock, Cynthia Williams and Nancy Williams, all of Statesville; uncles, James Peewee Fraley, Russell Fraley, Artis Murdock, Larry (Ann) Murdock and Cliffton (Tara) Murdock, all of Statesville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, Christian Outreach Church Family, and dear friends.
It seems so unreal that you are gone

You walked and talked and laughed with us

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Friday, August 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Outreach of the Piedmont. Pastor Glenn J. Usry will officiate and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Ms. Williams will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 9:30 a.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., but will assemble at the residence of her grandmother, Frances Williams, Freedom Drive, Statesville, at other times.
