Mary Neal Tate, was born in Iredell County on December 10, 1941 and gained her w ings on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at the Gordon Hospice House of Statesville. She was the daughter of the late James Mott Tate and Viola Reid Tate.
She attended Unity School at a young age and made her home in Troutman with her companion, James “JC” Jones for over thirty years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ethel Tate, James “BaBro” Tate, Willie “OT” Chambers, and Carnell Garrison.
She leaves to remember and cherish the blessing of her life, her companion, James “JC” Jones of the home; her children, Gary (Caroline) Tate, Rickey (Lisa) Tate, and Mary Ethel Sherrill, all of Statesville, Darlene Campbell of Harmony, Robert (Shay) Sherrill of Statesville, Johnathan Morris of Harmony, Vincent Morris of Chesterfield, Virginia and Treava (Dwain) Evans of Harmony; her siblings, Grace Dean Tate and Betty Sue Tate (Joe) Barnes, both of Statesville; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and dear friends.
Celebration of Life service will be held at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary, Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m.with Minister Thomas Chambers officiating, and Pastor Lonnie Harper doing the eulogy. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens.
