Mr. Sherman Craig White, 59, was born in Iredell County on February 3, 1960, and was the son of Margaret Ann Tomlin White and the late Robert Lee White. He departed this life on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N. C. following an extended illness.

He was a 1978 graduate of North Iredell High School and was employed by Lowe’s Distribution at the time of his death. He served with the United States Army and was honorably discharged, and also served with the Military for over twenty-one years. He was a Referee with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association for many years and also was a member of the VFW Post in Harmony. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Lee White.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his mother, Margaret Ann T. White of Statesville; his brothers, Alexis Shawn (Julie) White and Marcus T. White, both of Statesville and Keith (Janeen) White of Opa Locka, Florida; two sisters, Tamar Mason and Anika White, both of Statesville; aunt, Betty Smith of Winston-Salem, Linda White of Statesville and Shirley Cuthbertson of Cleveland; a great uncle, Flake Smith of New York; a host of nieces and nephews, Natika, Latisha, Lexiann, Aisha, Akrica, Ambria, Donisha, Ja'Kiyann, Azucena, Breanna, Korain, Gavan, Logan, Naisir, Lera, Jamaryus, Ja'Quevis, Korain, Jr.; his special friend, Peggy Rumple of Mocksville; his godchildren, Kenneth and Amanda Goodson and Jennifer Rumple, all of Summerville, S. C.; god grandchildren, Arbury Goodson, Karley Goodson, Maggie Rumple and Camden Rumple; uncles, David Smith, Pinkney Murdock and Thomas Murdock, all of Statesville; special friends, Dale and Lisa Griffin and Ronnie Mason; and a host of cousins, other relatives, the Chestnut Grove Family, neighbors and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, September 21, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Reverend Dale Gibson, Pastor will officiate and burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with full military rites. Mr. White will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 12:30 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence of his mother, Margaret Ann T. White, 283 Jennings Road, Statesville, at other times.
