Obituary

Roman's 14:8 " For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord; whether we live therefore. or die, we are the Lord's"

Celebration of Life

Franklin Garry Mott, son of the late Bishop James and Overseer Naomi Mott, was born October 7, 1946 in Iredell County, North Carolina passed from this earthly life on Sunday, September 22, 2019. Frank was preceded in death by his sister Bernice Brown and brother Dalton Mott.
In 1964, Frank graduated from Morningside High School, Statesville, NC and later completed the required classes at Winston-Salem Barber College to acquire his NC Barber’s License in 1965. He was a member of Bethlehem Apostolic Church, Statesville, NC and one of the lead psalmists in the Inter-church Choir where he melodiously sang to the glory of God under the direction of his late aunt, Ms. Willie McDowell.
In his late 20’s, he moved from North Carolina to Maryland where he worked at Brunning Paint Company for many years. Frank worked for a variety of companies in Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC and Northern Virginia areas where he acquired many skills and worked faithfully until his retirement in his late 60’s.
Frank was an easy-going, generous and peace-loving man. Along with other activities, his favorite past-times included singing, watching sports and WeTV, and hanging with friends at “The Clubhouse” in Southwest Baltimore close to where he lived.
Frank was a loving father and loyal friend with an undying fervor for music. His life’s passion of singing and spreading the love of Jesus through Gospel music will be a legacy that he leaves with us all.
Frank leaves to cherish his memory, his siblings, Deacon Samuel “Sam” (Gay) Mott, Linda Hammons, and Deacon Furman (Ann) Mott, all of Statesville; his son, Rodney (Sheila) Dalton, the children from his union with Diane; Sheila (Damon) Spence of Baltimore, Md, Gregory (Amy) Rhoney of Winston-Salem, Ivan (Alease) Mott and Michael (Lasonya) Mott, and Kerwin Mott, all of Baltimore, Md, and through his lifelong friendship with Cheryl; Andre (Patrice) and Charlotte. He also leaves to mourn twenty-two grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including Henry McClelland.
He was affectionately known as Granddaddy by his grandkids and Pops. Frank leaves to his children the legacy of the love of music as they all have embraced their musical gifts as God-given. He not only loved to watch sports, but he was a great basketball player and was well known in his community for talent in both basketball and boxing.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, September 28, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at The Mary B. Bigham Memorial Chapel of Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home.
