On Late Saturday night, October 12, 2019, God called a special Angel home. She departed this life with family around her at the Gordon Hospice House, Statesville, NC.
Miss Anna Morrison was born May 8, 1929 in Iredell County, NC. Anna was the daughter of the late James Lonnie āLonā Morrison and Mary āMaggieā Sherrill Morrison. Miss Morrison attended Unity High School and was a lifelong member of Clarkās Chapel Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and the kitchen committee.
Miss Morrison retired from āJimmyās Restaurantā of Statesville, NC. She also worked at J Cās Toot and Tellem, and Fat Boys Restaurants. Everyone that knew and loved āMiss Annaā will greatly miss her cooking and baking skills that were phenomenal. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by nine sisters, Nevanna M. Waddell, Lula M. Watts, Lelia M. Tatum, Connie M. Morrison, Margie M. Pegram, Clorine Morrison, Rosa Sherrill and twin sisters that passed at birth: six brothers, Boyd, Robert, Omar, Roscoe, Clyde and Marine Morrison.
Miss Morrison is survived by two daughters, Barbara Anna Morrison of the home and Crystal Leigh (Larry) Morrison Taylor of Burlington, NC., two granddaughters, Kristen D. Morrison of Statesville NC and Ashleigh Lauryn Taylor of Burlington, NC; one great-grandson, Christopher Allan āC.J.ā McClelland Jr. of Statesville, a bunch of inherited children and grands through the years; one sister, JoCarolyn Morrison of Statesville, NC; three sisters-in-law, Ann Morrison, Ethel Morrison, and Joan Morrison, all of Statesville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, the Clarkās Chapel Church Family, neighbors and friends.
Celebration of life services will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Clarkās Chapel Baptist Church. Reverend Dr. Dietrich M. Danner will officiate and burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Ms. Morrison will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 12:30 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 pm to 2:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
