Mrs. Margaret Alexander Feimster, 102, was born in Iredell County on January 8, 1917, and was the daughter of the late Whitfield Alexander and Edna Feimster Alexander Murdock. She peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at her home surrounded by family.
Margaret was brought up in the Harmony and Bethany areas. She was married to the late Allen Feimster on December 10, 1932 in Lancaster, South Carolina. They parented seven children, Allen “Whit”, Edna, Charlie, Julia, Willie “Leonard”, Kenneth, and Ronnie. She retired from Kewaunee after many years. Also, she was the first black Pink Lady at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Margaret was very active in the Chestnut Grove Community, and she believed in helping and giving back to others. She was an industrious woman and canned lots of fruits and vegetables. She was also known for her wonderful baking and cooking skills. Her excellent “chow chow” was a favorite.
Margaret was baptized at the Rock Hill Church of Christ where she and her husband attended until the Belmont Church of Christ was established. She attributed her longevity to her hard work, family, and her faith in God. She was a great encourager and influenced her family and others to obey God. Her advice to young people was to have a dream, stick to it, get an education, and to not partake in alcohol or drugs.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four children, Allen Whitfield Feimster, Edna Louise Feimster Houpe Stevens, Ronnie Lee Feimster, and an Infant Mildred Feimster, and two siblings Ellen Nichols and Wilford Morrison and two grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, four children, Charles Henry (Gladys) Feimster of Statesville, Julia Rebecca Feimster Lackey of the home, Willie Leonard (Margie) Feimster of Statesville and Kenneth Sherman Feimster of the home; her brothers, T.C. (Tilly) Murdock and Pinkley Murdock, both of Statesville; a sister-in-law, Emma Feimster of Statesville; twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren; twenty-seven great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, the Highland Acres Church Family, and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted on Friday, November 15, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., at Highland Acres Church of Christ, Statesville. Brother Al Simmons will officiate, Brother Barry Robinson will deliver the eulogy and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 1:55 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at all other times.
