Mr. Sammy Ferguson, Jr. was born January 9, 1945, in Sumpter, SC, the son of the late Tom and Mary Stewart Ferguson. He passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Gordon Hospice House.

He attended Anderson High School in Winston-Salem and was a member of Cameron Presbyterian Church. He was united in marriage to Georgia Louise Scott Ferguson for fifty-four years, who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki Scott; his brothers, James Ferguson, Roosevelt Ferguson, Lawrence Ferguson, Johnny Ferguson and Duke Ferguson; a sister-in-law, Frances Everhart; and a brother-in-law, Champ Scott, Sr; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Champ and Daisy Scott, Sr.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his loving wife Georgia of the home; his children, Dwight (Christy) Scott, Eddie (April) Scott, James Scott, also care giver, all of Statesville and Wendy Ferguson White of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Joseph (Maggie) Ferguson of Winston; a sister, Rebecca Ferguson of Winston Salem; brothers-in-law, William (Dorothy) Scott and Robert (Mary Frances) Scott, both of Cleveland, Willie Everhart of Statesville; a sister-in-law, Helen Houpe; special caregiver and niece, Sylvia Brown; eight grandchildren, Travis (Shantel) Scott, Jamar Scott, Ashley Scott, Latoya Scott, Kenya Scott, Malaysia Scott, Dezion Scott and Sierra Scott; six great-grandchildren, Jasmine Scott, Trevor Davis, Trezden Davis, Zoey Scott, Isis Scott and Jaylen Scott; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Sunday, November 17, 2019, 2:00 pm, at Cameron Presbyterian. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2 pm, at the church. Reverend Timothy Bates will officiate and burial will follow at the Belmont Cemetery.
